Summary
Manage and formulate cost proposals which meets the profit goals of the company. Anticipate, identify and resolve technical and commercial issues, risks, and cost for each proposal. Have close communication with the customer and work with our internal team as required. Confidence and communication skills will assure strong company representation with our customers and suppliers
Qualifications
-- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Experience in planning and scheduling of pre-construction efforts
-- Experience in strategic planning and execution
-- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
-- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time-frames
-- Simultaneously manage several projects
-- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
-- Excellent organizational and time management skills
-- Ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and follow-up
-- 10-15 years of experience in a senior-level estimating position
-- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
-- Computer knowledge in Excel, Word, and Bluebeam
-- Ability to read and understand RFQ’s, drawings, specifications, and contract terms
-- Comprehensive knowledge of machinery tools, equipment and machines used in Manufacturing Architectural Metal systems
-- Strong Knowledge of the standards and working principles of manufacturing and installation in the Architectural Metal
Industry
Responsibilities
-- All duties are to be performed in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures
-- Direct and oversee the company’s pre-construction efforts, i.e. estimating, budgeting, design assist, and client management
-- Develop strategies to procure public and private projects within a competitive environment
-- Develop strategies to provide the competitive edge during the bid process
-- Oversee the negotiation of material pricing during the proposal process
-- Oversee development and management of historical costs database
-- Research and develop strategies and plans which identify future estimating opportunities
-- Supervise the preparation, issuance, and delivery of proposals and pre-qualifications
-- Recommend and administer policies and estimating procedures to enhance operations
-- Work with department managers and corporate staff to develop five year and ten-year business plans for the company
-- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff
-- Prepare list of bid/proposal opportunities for weekly group evaluation
-- Follow up on open bids/proposals to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of estimating methods, costs, and results
-- Ensure that estimating team members are performing the appropriate hand off to operations
-- Ensure that specifications and general conditions are being reviewed for potential risk
